Once the largest corporation in the world and the oldest listing in the DOW, GM has ended an era in American automobile history. The New GM is to emerge leaner with fewer plants and products. The swap makes the Federal Government a 60 percent owner, the UAW a 17.5 percent owner and the Canadian Government a 12.5 owner, with the remainder going to bond holders.
